Division General Manager

Our client is a leading environmental company that has been in business for over 45 years.  They service the hospitality industry and prefer candidates that have worked in the recycling industry and are willing to work in Hawaii. 
As a Division General Manager, comes the responsibility of ensuring that a positive and proactive relationship is established and maintained with all employees, customers and vendors.
The following, but not limited to, is an outline of the duties and responsibilities of the Division General Manager:

  • Ensure that the operation of the facility will be managed in an efficient manner in accordance with company guidelines and policies
  • Ensure that the operation of these facilities will meet all requirements as dictated by company, city, county, state and federal regulations
  • Direct and guide the staff through various methods of communications such as staff meetings, one on one discussion, memorandums and any other means of communication available to convey the intentions needed to obtain mandated goals
  • Hire, direct, guide, instruct and terminate personnel, in accordance with company policies, as needed to ensure the efficient operation of the facility
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Take an active role in the financial planning of the division, review financial reports in a timely manner discuss any noted financial variances with appropriate staff members and obtain resolve
  • Ensure that all department heads follow and adhere to company policy and guidelines
  • Report and communicate to corporate officers as necessary
  • Perform other administrative duties as are required by corporate management
  • Assist in the preparing of the monthly Pricing Projection
  • Assist procurement in: Negotiating price for Finished Product Sales.  Procurement of raw material, soliciting for new trap customers.  Prepare various bids for the purpose of procuring customers and/or raw material
  • Plan work schedules for plant operations and drivers, including hiring, disciplining, discharging
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget
  • Make sure employees follow the union contract(s) if applicable and enforce contract rules
  • Prepare and submit weekly activity reports
  • Assist in the review process of the weekly/monthly yield/production reports
  • Review the financial statements and applicable cost center on a monthly basis with appropriate managers/supervisors
  • Respond to and be on call, to security and emergency calls on a 24 hour basis.  If unavailable to respond, appoint an employee
  • Review and approve all purchases and expenditures
  • Be available to join and or assist in various civic endeavors and participate in public relations events and meetings with various city governmental entities
  • Oversee safety and HACCP program and meetings to ensure compliance to the various regulations and company policy
  • Understand and stay current on DOT regulations including drug testing, hours on duty regulations, etc.

Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management or related field
  • Must have a minimum ten years of supervisory experience
  • Must have excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Must have excellent work ethic, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
